I am an associate professor of cinema, photography, television and audiovisual media in the Department of Letters, Philosophy, Communication at the University of Bergamo, Italy. I am the coordinator of the MA program in “Comunicazione, informazione, editoria”, and Department delegate for communication. I am a member of the board of the PhD program in “Transcultural Studies in Humanities” at the University of Bergamo.
I received my academic education at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan: PhD in Cultures of Communication/Film studies (2010), MA in Media studies (2005), BA in Communication studies (2002). I have served as an associate professor at the Università degli Studi della Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” in Caserta (2019-2021), as an assistant professor at the International Telematic University UniNettuno in Rome (2016-2018), and as a adjunct professor at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and IULM University in Milan (2010-2018).
I teach Visual culture and History of cinema at the University of Bergamo. My research interests are film theories, film and media aesthetics, phenomenology of media experience, Neurofilmology, Gestalt filmology, virtual reality and immersive media, digital photography, fashion media, media ecology, and enactive media. I am head of the Visual Media Lab and coordinator of the research group CiMAv – Cinema and Audiovisual Media at the University of Bergamo.
I am the author and co-curator of several books and journal special issues. I contribute to the life of numerous academic journals as a member of the editorial board of Cinéma & Cie. Film and Media Journal, Comunicazioni Sociali. Journal of Media, Performing Arts and Cultural Studies, and Fata Morgana Web, and of the editorial staff of L’avventura. International Journal of Italian Film and Media Landscapes, Visual Culture Studies, ZoneModa Journal, and EmergingSeries Journal.
As a journalist, I am the director of communication at CUC • Consulta Universitaria del Cinema, the Italian society of film and media scholars.
