Cinema+Fashion
Over these two weeks, I will be teaching a module on the (close and symbiotic) relationship between cinema and fashion at the Milano Fashion Institute (Master in Fashion Direction: Communication & Social Management). Relying on the perspective and the methods of sociosemiotics and film studies, the module explores the marriage between fashion and cinema in the contemporary cultural scenario. Drawing on the idea that the medium of cinema has the capability to transform trends into stories, a particular focus will be on the intersection between the imaginary (fictional films on fashion or in which fashion has a significant role) and the real (fashion documentaries).
